Summary of Transcript:
• Thomas was overweight and struggled with weight loss. • He realized he was likely over-consuming fats due to the keto diet, which made it easier for excess fat to be stored in his body. • He also relied too heavily on exercise, leading to overworking himself and ultimately damaging his knees. • Stress and eating at the same time is also a major issue when attempting to lose weight, as Cortisol combined with food can lead to excess fat storage. • Thomas recommends taking a break from eating if feeling particularly stressed out.

My 100lb Weight Loss – 5 Things that SLOWED my Progress – Thomas DeLauer
I used to be 280 pounds and I was miserable. I wanted to make changes and did, but there were a lot of things that stood in my way. In retrospect, it seems pretty obvious what slowed down my weight loss. Here are 5 major things that hindered me in my journey:
-
Not setting clear goals: It’s easy to say “I want to lose weight” or “I want to get healthier” but if you don’t have a plan on how you’re going to reach those goals, then it becomes harder to stay motivated and maintain progress.
-
Not tracking my progress: Knowing where you started and where you’re trying to go is only half the battle; the other half is actually tracking your progress along the way. This helps keep motivation up because you can see the small wins that accumulate over time into big victories.
-
Overeating unhealthy food: Eating too much unhealthy food was one of the biggest obstacles that stood in my way during my weight loss journey. Even though I was eating smaller portions, they weren’t always healthy portions so I wasn’t getting all the nutrients I needed for continued success.
-
Underestimating how much activity I needed: Exercise is an important part of any fitness journey but I underestimated how much activity would be necessary for me to achieve optimal results for my body composition and overall level of health.
-
Neglecting rest days: Rest days are just as important as workout days when losing weight because during rest periods your body has time to repair itself from exercise-induced stress and build stronger muscles for future workouts which helps boost metabolism and reduce injuries associated with overworking certain muscle groups or joints!
These five things ended up being major hindrances throughout my weight-loss journey, so do yourself a favor and take measures now to ensure these mistakes aren’t repeated!
