We Are Creators of Our Lives, Not Victims
Have you ever felt like life is happening to you, and you have no control over it? You’re not alone, but the good news is that you have more control over your life than you might think. We are the creators of our lives, not the victims of it. This powerful statement can change how you think about your life and how you approach it.
Invest in Yourself, Invest in Your Future
Taking time to invest in yourself is to invest in your future. It’s essential to believe in yourself and the possibility of what you can achieve. If you struggle to believe in yourself, try this for the next seven days: eliminate one to three things you think or react to. By doing this, you will start to see incredible feelings of difference. You will feel healthier, more lively, and more loved. Here are a few things you can eliminate:
1. Stop Thinking About Your Problems
The first thing people do when they wake up in the morning is to think about the problems in their life. These problems are memories from the past, and when you think about them, you live in the past. Every problem has an emotion attached to it; when you think about them, you start feeling unhappy or unworthy. Most people’s entire state of being is in the past when they start their day. Within the familiar past, they will live in a predictable future. Change this by starting your day with this simple question: What is the most excellent idea of myself that I can be today?
2. Be Conscious of Your Thoughts
Write down four thoughts that you will stay conscious of the whole day. You will be surprised how unconscious you’ve been to them all day, if not for weeks. Become conscious of those states of mind and body and review them, then say, “This is the old self.” Next, say, “What thoughts do I want to fire and wire in my brain?” Write them down and start firing and wiring them. Start feeling it and rehearsing them. Begin to install the neurological hardware in your brain, and if you keep installing it, the hardware will become a software program. You’ll start thinking and acting that way.
3. The Emotional Signature of Gratitude
Take up time at the end of your day to give thanks for your life and feel gratitude. Teach your body what it feels like to be in a state of gratitude. Gratitude is the ultimate state of receiving, and it becomes a gateway for positive thoughts and energy to filter in.
4. Open Your Awareness
Take time out of your day, whenever it is, and sit down, close your eyes, and open your awareness to the space around you. Just sense it, pay attention, and become more aware of it. Opening your awareness reduces the stress hormones and creates more coherent brainwave states.
Life Is Our Greatest Teacher
Life is our initiation; we don’t need to go to any old school of wisdom in the Himalayas. Our life is our most excellent teacher, and the challenges we face are the initiations that will help us grow and learn. We move through these initiations quickly when we meet these challenges from a greater level of mind. The side effect of getting through these initiations is wisdom, which we can take for the rest of our lives.
