Elissa Epel, Ph.D. is a psychologist and professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of California, San Francisco who wrote the book The Stress Prescription: Seven Days to More Joy and Ease. In the book, she shares her knowledge of stress and health research to provide tips on how to manage stress and lead a more joyous life. Elissa also emphasizes the importance of nature immersion and having a shortened sense of time to focus on what matters. Her motto is to “drop the rope, drop the baggage, and drop down” in order to get out of a stressful state. Additionally, she is inspired by the quote by Pema Chodron, “Things don’t really get solved. They come together and they fall apart. Then they come together again and fall apart again. It’s just like that. The healing comes from letting there be room for all of this to happen: room for grief, for relief, for misery, for joy.”
