In this episode of the Feel Better Live More podcast, I’m delighted to be speaking with Dr Bessel van der Kolk, professor of psychiatry at Boston University School of Medicine and President of the Trauma Research Foundation in Massachusetts.
Dr van der Kolk is a world-renowned expert in the field of trauma, having dedicated his life to understanding the effects of trauma on the mind, body and spirit. He is the author of the book, The Body Keeps the Score: Mind, Brain and Body in the Transformation of Trauma, which is a must-read for anyone interested in the field of trauma.
In this conversation, Dr van der Kolk and I discuss the importance of understanding trauma, the impact of trauma on the body and mind, and the ways in which we can help ourselves and others heal from trauma. We also discuss the importance of breathwork and how it can be used to help reduce stress and anxiety.
Dr van der Kolk is a wealth of knowledge and I’m so grateful he has taken the time to share his insights with us. I hope this conversation will help you to better understand trauma and the ways in which we can help ourselves and others heal from it.
If you’re interested in learning more about breathwork, I’ve created a free breathing guide which you can download here: http://bit.ly/3WbGHUw. I highly recommend it as a great way to begin your journey towards healing from trauma.
