Dr. Gundry’s Quick Health Tip: 4 Water Mistakes We All Make
We all know the importance of drinking plenty of water every day, but did you know that not all water is created equal? Dr. Steven R. Gundry, MD and author of The Plant Paradox, recently gave a talk on his quick health tip: 4 water mistakes we all make.
- Not drinking filtered water – Tap water often contains a variety of pollutants such as chlorine and fluoride, which can have adverse affects on your health if consumed in large amounts over long periods of time. Always make sure to filter your tap water, or opt for bottled spring water instead.
- Not drinking enough – Our bodies are made up mostly of water (around 60%), so it’s essential to keep them properly hydrated by drinking at least 8 glasses of filtered or spring water per day. Dehydration can lead to fatigue, headaches and other ailments so be sure to keep up with your daily intake!
- Drinking too much alcohol – Alcohol is also highly dehydrating and should be consumed in moderation (one glass/serving per day) to stay healthy and at optimal levels of hydration throughout the day.
- Not drinking the right kind – While tap and bottled waters are great alternatives to soda and juice drinks, not all types are equally beneficial for our body’s needs – distilled or alkaline waters contain fewer minerals than natural spring waters which make them less helpful in providing us with essential trace elements that are usually stripped away during the filtering process used for tap and bottled varieties.
Drinking the right type of filtered or natural mineralized/alkaline spring water is essential for maintaining overall health – so now you know why it’s important always opt for quality over quantity when it comes to hydrating your body!
